VAILLANT aroTHERM PLUS HEAT PUMP WITH THE NEW R290 REFRIGERANT

Posted on: 05/27/22

The new building regulation, the KEnAK, the new requirements for the energy design of buildings, the specialized requirements for NZEB (almost zero energy) buildings and the new requirements for reducing the effect on the greenhouse effect have created the need for sophisticated heating systems and air conditioning. These systems should combine very low energy consumption, reliability, the combination – if possible – of heating and air conditioning, and ease of installation with the high aesthetics of their devices and especially those intended to be installed in the outdoor environment , and consequently will affect the appearance of the building.

These combined requirements have in recent years pushed heat pumps to the forefront of the market as they can meet these requirements to a greater or lesser extent.

The German company Vaillant, a pioneer for the last 145 years in heating systems - with natural gas boilers and heat pumps - designed, developed and now offers one of the first heat pumps with the new refrigerant R290 on the European market. R290 could well be described as the refrigerant of the future, as due to its very low GWP= 3 it is certain that it will not be excluded from the market in the foreseeable future. In addition, heat pumps with R290 have the ability to operate at very high temperatures supply up to 75 °C in heating, but also the ability to operate in cooling with an outside temperature of up to 46 °C covering every need arising from the design of heating and air conditioning of a building.

In addition to the advantages derived from the refrigerant R290, the new Vaillant heat pumps are characterized by their very high energy efficiency, e.g. A+++ at 35 °C, the extremely low noise level throughout their operating range, e.g. 29 dB(A) at 3 meters distance from the heat pump and their unsurpassed manufacturing quality, which characterizes all Vaillant products over time.

The new heat pumps are combined with integrated indoor units, with or without an integrated domestic hot water tank, thus creating integrated systems that cover all the needs of a modern home regarding heating, cooling and domestic hot water production. They can be combined with indoor heating installations with classic bodies or underfloor heating but also with air conditioning systems such as cooling, fan element units ( fcu ) or central air conditioning units. In addition, through suitable equipment, they can be used in combination with the above for heating swimming pools, giving a complete solution to more complex installations.

In addition to their excellent technical characteristics, Vaillant heat pumps are characterized by their high aesthetics, making it acceptable in many cases to install them in prominent places in the external environment of the building.
